SUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Perform tasks related to harvesting control and ability to meet minimum nut harvesting pounds/quota requirements.
The following duties are typical for the
Hand Harvester position. Incumbents may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address operational needs and changing business practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS:
Puts nuts into a bucket.
Stoops, squats, or kneels to harvest nuts by hand.
Empties filled bucket into bags or other large receptacles.
May rake nuts from under trees into piles.
Obeys Company rules and regulations.
Complies with all safety rules and regulations established for the protection of employees and equipment.
Actively participates in the Company Safety Program.
Performs other duties as directed.

Works closely and harmoniously with fellow workers and employees.
Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Work is typically performed in the outdoors/orchard fields.
Maybe exposed to noise, dirt, wetness, and varying temperature.
Works around plants, dirt, and water in fields.
Must be able to carry out simple verbal instructions.
Must be able to work independently.
Must be able to multi-task.
Work hours are subject to change, with weekend and/or holiday work as needed.
Light mental and visual attention required in the performance of duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, & Professional Association):
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Mandatory –
Must be physically capable of performing required duties.
Carries out simple instructions under close direction/minimal direction to perform repetitive tasks which require only rough manual skills using simple hand tools.
Must have the ability to analyze conditions and follow instructions.
Must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel and squat for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift and carry 45 pounds.
Must be able to meet and maintain minimum nut harvesting quota/pounds gathered requirement.
Must be able to record daily duties, including hours worked, area covered, and maintenance required.
Must be able to work independently.
Preferred –
3 years’ experience working in farming fields.
