Job Title: Groundskeeper

General Duties/Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for helping to maintain the facilities of the School
Specific Responsibilities:
The following daily work requirements of this position occur during different times throughout the year and include:
Mowing Campus – Seasonal

• Riding on mower in one position with constant twisting and turning for field of vision
• Walking behind mower with twisting/turning with regards to ground conditions and contours
• Trimming while holding a 5-10 pound feed trimmer. Continuous bending, twisting and lifting is necessary
• Leaf /debris blowing with 15-20 pound backpack blower strapped onto the back

Snow Removal – Seasonal

• Safe operation of all types of snow removal equipment for long as weather permitting (can be up to twenty four hours per occurrence depending on storm) hours.
• Hand snow removal (shoveling, operating snow blower) as needed
• Availability for duty as weather requires

Athletic Fields – Seasonal

• Riding mower in one position with constant twisting and turning for field of vision
• Walking behind mower with twisting/turning with regards to ground conditions and contours
• Trimming while holding a 5-10 pound feed trimmer. Continuous bending, twisting and lifting is necessary
• Leaf /debris blowing with 15-20 pound backpack blower strapped onto the back.
• Painting – Bi-weekly/As necessary – Requires lifting and loading 5 gallon containers (approximately 40 pounds) into paint machine and walk behind the machine for several hours
• Preparation/Set up of fields – Requires pickup and delivery of equipment necessary for games, ranges from light lifting (cones) to heavy as each sports requires.

General Grounds Maintenance

• Garbage Removal –Lifting and loading trash containers up to approximately 60 pounds each for delivery and lifting into raised trash compactor. Recycling – ensure recycled materials are put in proper receptacles.
• Events Set Ups – Load, unload, deliver and setup all items necessary for school events. Duties vary in weight intensity from setting up tables/chairs to staging and podiums requiring multiple persons. Weight ranges from up to and exceeding occasionally 100 pounds
• Delivery – Assistance with delivery and set up of office and/or school furniture from chairs to file cabinets to desks. Weight ranges from light to heavy depending on item

The successful candidate for this position should possess:

• 
  Current Valid CT drivers license
• Available for 24 hour emergency assistance and weekend work

Special Conditions of Employment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds
• The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
• The employee is consistently required to stand/ walk for up to 6/8 hours per day and occasionally up to 12 hours or more per day depending on seasonal duties.
• The employee is required to repeatedly bend, twist, and kneel.
