We are looking for a Electrical and Controls Design and Fabrication Manager. The Electrical and Controls Design and Fabrication Manager is responsible for the comprehensive design and development of electrical and control subsystems used in water treatment and purification systems. This role involves specifying and sourcing electrical components, preparing and modifying electrical and assembly drawings, and calibrating and troubleshooting instrumentation. The manager will oversee the assembly of these systems, supervising the installation of electrical and control equipment—including motors, actuated valves, sensors, PLCs, and other industrial devices—ensuring efficiency and timely project completion. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Design electrical and control systems in accordance with industry standards (such as NEC and UL).
Evaluate and source components by liaising with vendors.
Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Create and update electrical and instrumentation diagrams.
Calibrate and troubleshoot instrumentation and electrical/machine equipment.
Collaborate with administrative staff for proper procurement of components.
Engage with third-party inspection services to ensure compliance with requirements.
Draft control philosophies and O&M documentation for company water treatment systems.
Supervise design technicians and PLC programmers to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time.
Oversee assembly technicians to guarantee the prompt and precise assembly of panels.
Evaluate and select electrical and control hardware for water treatment systems.
Prepare electrical and controls wiring diagrams.
Provide daily technical support to distributors, OEMs, end users, and other customers.
Manage and supervise the activities of PLC programmers, controls and instrumentation technicians, electricians, and panel builders
Deliver all necessary documentation and procedures for testing water treatment instrumentation and control products.
Offer documentation and procedures for fabricating electrical and control subsystems in water treatment systems.
Provide technical support and supervision to production personnel to address issues related to electrical and controls fabrication, installation, and testing.
Assist in the construction and wiring of water treatment systems as required.
Conduct testing and debugging of water treatment systems at both facility and at field locations.
Participate in special projects as requested or approved by the Engineering Manager, including custom system design, new product development, and consulting. The manager may take on a support role or lead project management efforts as directed.
Supervise both temporary and permanent personnel necessary for completing job duties, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and legal regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field from a four-year college or university with a minimum of 10 years of experience; or Associate's degree in a suitable technical field from a two-year college with 10 years of experience. In both cases, at least three years must include supervising other technical personnel.
The individual must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Effective writing of reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals is essential. The ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers is required.
Should possess the ability to accurately perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. A solid understanding of basic algebra, geometry, and calculus principles is essential.
The role requires strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to collect data, identify issues, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The candidate must be comfortable interpreting a wide range of technical instructions presented in mathematical or diagram forms, as well as managing various abstract and concrete variables. Following diverse instructions, whether written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled, is crucial.
Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for the company's auto insurance. A valid passport or qualifications to obtain one are necessary. OSHA 10 safety training certification is required. The ability to obtain and maintain the specified manufacturer's technical representative (MTR) certification is also essential.
Candidates should be abl frequently handle up to 50 pounds, and occasionally manage up to 100 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment may involve exposure to fumes and airborne particles. Employees may occasionally encounter moving mechanical parts, various weather conditions, and electrical hazards. While the general noise level is usually quiet, candidates should be prepared to work in noisier settings, especially in the field.
Proficiency in using computers is essential. Experience with electrical testing equipment, including multi-meters and amp meters, is required. Candidates should also be capable of programming PLCs and HMIs and have experience with calibrating water treatment instruments such as p H, ORP, and conductivity meters. Familiarity with CAD software, preparing wiring diagrams, and interpreting piping and instrumentation (P&ID) diagrams is important. Additionally, knowledge of NEC and relevant manufacturer requirements is needed.
