Do you have extensive leadership experience and can operate in a highly technical environment? If so, join our Division of Program Integrity within the Economic Services Administration as an Operations Research Specialist!
You’ll assist in managing of statewide data, support program functions, and provide technical assistance to promote program integrity. You’ll supervise a team, and as a technical expert, you’ll develop and design complex multidimensional operations and conduct data research using scientific, statistical, data mining or mathematical analytical methods to assess complicated issues, and identify and solve problems.
Our division conducts quality control case reviews and monitors results for continuous improvement and fraud prevention to ensure the state maintains a high level of program integrity and accuracy.
You’ll play a key role in helping the division to reduce the number of individuals and families living below 200% of the federal poverty level in a way that eliminates disparities.
This job includes a hybrid in-office/telework schedule, with in office work as needed.
Some of what you’ll do
- Lead in the design and implementation of statistical, data analysis, and analytical projects; assign and schedule research activities
- As a project lead, develop and recommend new processes and techniques that address program integrity initiatives, process gaps, and procedural adherence; create efficiencies in business processes
- Provide oversight for multi-disciplinary project teams in database and data visualization system design, data collection, and reporting utilizing Python, Access, SQL, and Tableau software
- Provide expert data analysis, conduct random audits of work, and provide technical assistance
- Conduct training to ensure the team stays current with advancing technology; provide training related to MS Access, SQL databases, Tableau data visualization software, and other program support training
- Analyze regulations and legislation
- Work with internal/external partners in developing and implementing security and maintenance of division databases and data visualization systems
- Provide summarized findings, indicating anomalies and trends, determining root causes, isolating sources of errors, and reporting outcomes
- The ability to communicate and interact on varied levels, including technical and program experts, to promote professional interpersonal relationships.
We’re looking to hire a professional with
Eight years of experience in statistics, science, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
- Experience must include at least one year of supervisory experience that may be concurrent to other required experience.
(Note: A masters degree in statistics, science, mathematics, computer science, or a related field will substitute for 5 years of experience. A Ph.D. may substitute for 7 years of the above experience. Additional qualifying experience may substitute, year for year, for education.)
Desired
- Extensive experience supervising within a highly technical environment
- Experience in designing, developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Microsoft Access and SQL database systems, and have expert knowledge in Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Knowledge and understanding of programs associated with DSHS/Division of Program Integrity (SNAP, TANF, Work First and other state-managed programs)
- Process Improvement Facilitation principles
- Ability to travel to attend trainings or meetings
