Are you passionate about driving financial integrity and efficiency in the public sector? The Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA) is seeking a Fiscal Analyst 4 in Lacey, WA. As a Fiscal Analyst 4, you’ll serve as an essential member of our team, providing high-level financial analysis, strategic insight, and guidance across diverse fiscal activities. Your expertise will not only maintain our compliance standards but also drive innovations in financial management to enhance the lives of those we serve.

ALTSA funds in-home services, case management, nursing services, home delivered meals, nutrition programs, and many other vital services and programs provided through 13 local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) to the elderly and adults with disabilities throughout the State of Washington. In this position, you will serve as the principal assistant to the AAA & Grants Unit Fiscal Analyst 5 in the Office of Finance in Management Services Division (MSD). You will be a subject matter expert and provide accounting oversight for Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) and federal, state and local grants.

Please note: This position is currently assigned as remote eligible. The present expectation is for the successful candidate to work 100% from their home office.

Some of what you'll do:
  • Review, interpret, and correct discrepancies between account funding and preparing journal vouchers for corrections and adjusting entries.
  • Process AAA billings for assigned AAAs.
  • Monitor contract balances, appropriations, match rates, and spending lids.
  • Perform ongoing reconciliations between payment data and accounting system.
  • Identify any potential problems and suggest improvements.
  • Assure compliance with accounting policies and Federal regulations.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end accruals.
  • Ensure entries for fiscal year and biennial closing are submitted accurately and timely.
  • Provide technical assistance to AAA's.

  • Skill in building good working relationships with multiple stakeholders who may hold different points of view.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Perform ongoing reconciliations between payment data and accounting system.


Who should apply?

Professionals who have a bachelor's degree* with a minimum of 12 semesters or 18 quarter hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting AND three years of professional accounting, auditing, or budgeting experience:
  • Note: Additional experience may substitute year for year, for education, but not for the credit hours. A master's degree in a financial related field, certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Government Financial Manager, or Management Accountant can be substituted for professional experience.
