Summary

The Valley County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting for a Driver’s License Clerk to perform a wide range of customer service and clerical duties related to the issuance of driver’s licenses, concealed weapons permits, special identity cards, and more. This is a full-time position with full county benefits and is located within the Civil Division of the Sheriff’s Office.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities
Typical duties include providing courteous customer service when interacting with the public (in person, by telephone, or via email) in the issuance of Idaho state driver’s licenses, concealed weapons permits, and special identity cards. Incumbents will also collect and review supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness, perform financial transactions, collect and submit fingerprints from permit applicants, and maintain all relevant records. This position is also responsible for maintaining the county sex offender registry, including collecting, entering, and storing all related records and documentation.

Typical Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent customer service skills, knowledge of basic cash handling methods and techniques, experience operating standard office equipment including a personal computer and job-related software applications, and strong attention to detail. Anyone interested in this position will have to pass a thorough background check (including being fingerprinted) and a drug test, become certified in the Idaho Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (ILETS) within 1 year, and become certified with the Idaho Transportation Department for the issuance of Idaho drivers' licenses.
