POSITION SUMMARY
The Tribal Resources Coordinator is responsible for assisting NVE Tribal Members with
Scholarships, Burial Assistance, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) general assistance, job training,
and assisting with other department applications and services. Additionally, this position
programs that promote cultural identity, personal self-esteem, and future hope. The
coordinator intervenes in cases of State custody and parental rights termination per
established ICWA law while also offering social and financial support to Tribal members
through Tribal, State, and Federal programs. Assumes duties of 477 Director as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Monitor budgets and scope of work to ensure program goals and objectives are met.
  • Prepare and submit program and budget modifications and reports to the 477 Director
and funding agencies as required by grants and contracts.
  • Prepare and submit narrative reports on a quarterly, semi-annual, annual, or other
funder-specified basis.
  • Create and maintain accurate case files and databases for all clients and activities.
  • Assist eligible applicants with completing required paperwork and referrals to
appropriate programs.
  • Educate eligible applicants regarding programs and services and provide case
management.
  • Coordinates HUD mini-grants and all scholarship opportunities.
  • Program coordination of BIA general assistance and burial assistance.
  • Outreach to Tribal members.
  • Plan monthly events or activities.
  • Works within the parameters of ICWA law to provide ICWA services.
  • Maintains all files for Tribal members involved with ICWA.
  • Attends all court hearings and other events associated with ICWA.
  • Represents the child in ICWA matters, including home visits as necessary.
  • Complete monthly tracking of ICWA children.
  • Oversees diligent relative searches for all OCS referrals

  • Liaisons with Cordova Public Schools for ICWA-related purposes.
  • Performs site visits at prospective adoptees’ homes.
  • Liaisons with other villages and towns in the area to facilitate cultural identity.
  • Works with Social Services team and Cultural team
  • Performs as Acting Director in the absence of 477 Director.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • None

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Experience with the Indian Child Welfare Act preferred.
  • General knowledge of the principles and practices of victim advocate
programs and processes.
  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity,
and the ability to work effectively with a variety of people, including abuse
victims, the elderly, children, staff, and support agencies.

  • Must be able to relate to and work with people with different cultural
backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and use good time management skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and keep deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel and attend meetings, workshops, trainings, and conferences.
  • Must be outgoing and personable with a desire to help people.
  • Ability to communicate well with employees and management.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and follow state and federal program regulations.
  • Demonstrate sound work ethics, flexibility, and dedication to the position.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs and Adobe Pro.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years’ experience in administrative functions required.
  • Grants experience preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to train to perform as ICWA Coordinator within 6 months of
hire.
  • Familiarity with Native Village of Eyak and Native American Culture preferred.
  • Current Alaska Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to travel.
