College Counseling Coordinator

SALARY RANGE: $30.22 TO $41.67 per hour

The College Counseling Coordinator plays a pivotal role within our esteemed College Counseling Team. This position requires a seasoned professional with demonstrated expertise in postsecondary planning competencies specific to independent school environments. The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive skill set aligned with established competencies crucial for guiding students and families through the postsecondary planning process effectively.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PROFESSIONAL COMPENTENCIES include the following.
  • Postsecondary Application Management
    • Demonstrated proficiency in navigating the intricacies of postsecondary application procedures, including college and scholarship application requirements, deadlines, and submission processes.
    • Expertise in utilizing platforms such as Maia Learning (or equivalent) for managing and submitting supporting school materials, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in application submissions.
  • Program Coordination and Facilitation
    • Proven track record of effectively coordinating and facilitating targeted postsecondary planning programs tailored to meet the unique needs of Mid-Pacific students and families.
    • Expertise in planning, logistics, and execution of events, workshops, and informational sessions related to topics including but not limited to college admissions, financial aid, the transition to college, etc.
  • Data Management and Analysis
    • Meticulous attention to detail in originating, maintaining, and analyzing statistical data relevant to the postsecondary application process.
    • Proficiency in generating insights from data analyses to empower college counselors to optimize student outcomes and inform strategic decision-making, especially as it pertains to balanced college lists, college application rounds, advocacy calls, waitlists, and scholarships.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and build meaningful relationships with students, parents, guardians, faculty, staff, and external constituents such as college admission officers.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills for clear and concise interaction with diverse stakeholders.
  • Technological Proficiency
    • Comfort and fluency with current and evolving technologies relevant to postsecondary planning, including but not limited to proficiency in Maia Learning (or equivalent), Slate.org, Self-Reported Academic Record, etc.
    • Ability to leverage technology to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and deliver innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of the college counseling program, as informed by current student-centered industry practices and standards.
SCHOOL SAFETY
  • Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace.

Sexual abuse includes child molestation, any actual or alleged illegal or otherwise wrongful sexual conduct with a minor, and serial sexual misconduct, any actual or alleged illegal or otherwise wrongful sexual conduct with more than one victim; and committed by or alleged to have been committed by any perpetrator who is not a student of an included entity.

QUALIFICATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in a college counseling office at an independent school, with a demonstrated track record of success in guiding students through the postsecondary planning process.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, changes in college admissions policies, and emerging best practices to contribute data-informed insights and new ideas that will bring constant improvement to our college counseling program.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team while also demonstrating independent initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, multitasking abilities, and attention to detail in managing competing priorities within a fast-paced independent school environment.
  • Commitment to discretion in communication and upholding confidentiality, recognizing the sensitive nature of postsecondary planning discussions and student information.
  • Dedication to advancing cultural competency within a diverse and inclusive community, embracing and celebrating the rich tapestry of backgrounds and perspectives at Mid-Pacific.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Our campus consists of multiple buildings on 44 hilly acres that requires frequent walking including uphill and stairs. The individual is required to talk and hear, often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee may be required to stand, walk, lift and carry approximately 10-15 pounds, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl. Requires close vision.
MENTAL DEMANDS
On a daily basis, must frequently problem solve, make decisions, interpret data, organize, speak, write, plan, and clearly communicate.

Telephone, computer, i Pad - frequently;
Copier, printers and other hardware – occasionally
WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoor - frequently;
Outdoor, Loud Noise, Cold and Hot Temperatures – occasionally

WORK SCHEDULE
This position is scheduled for 10.5 months, aligning with the academic calendar plus two weeks of work in the summer. This schedule allows for rest and relaxation during scheduled school breaks.
Regular work hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, however, these hours may vary depending on several factors. Must be flexible to work outside business hours to meet deadlines.
