Working Relationships
Works closely with the Sergeant & Corporal of Animal Care & Control, Animal Care & Control Field Service
Officers, Client Service Representatives, and the Director of Operations.
Essential Job Functions
1. Intaking stray animals brought into the shelter by ACC and the public.
2. Administering vaccines and performing intake exams for stray animals.
3. Observing and logging FAS / BSC scores and logging objective notes on each animal upon intake.
4. Processing redemptions for owners reclaiming their pet.
5. Answering questions, listening to complaints, and taking reports from the public.
6. Find creative ways to resolve animal/person complaints.
7. Answering phone calls to take reports, renew licenses, or answer questions for Field Services.
8. Inform the community about City, County, and State Animal Control laws.
9. Enter calls in database software, as received, for use by Officers.
10. Promote pet licensing as a way to get lost pets home faster.
11. Verifying proof of current Rabies Vaccines with Owners and Veterinarian Offices.
12. Run license renewal notices and provide them to the operations manager.
13. Processing Licenses for Owners and their pets that are current with vaccines.
14. Maintain complete records of the file log, call log, and BEH observations.
15. Work closely with leadership to determine the best course of action for pet complaints received.
16. Maintain regular, open communication with supervisor and other officers.
17. File ACC documents, citations, and other miscellaneous paperwork.
18. Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
1. High School Graduate or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 21 years of age.
3. Maintains an approachable and inviting demeanor at the Field Services desk.
4. Display good customer service skills with the 10-5 rule.
5. Ability to type swiftly and accurately.
6. Ability to accurately relay information to others as well as in our database.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
8. Manage multiple over the counter inquiries at any given time.
9. Ability to learn and interpret laws and ordinances governing animal care and control and teach others.
10. Demonstrate ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
11. Ability to use word, excel, and google drive.
12. Ability to work harmoniously with other employees.
13. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift 75 pounds.
14. Ability to perform humane euthanasia with compassion and pass all certifications, as required.
15. Desire to serve the mission of the organization to Protect, Serve and Educate.
16. Excellent customer service skills, ability to interact patiently and tactfully with a diverse customer base.
17. Ability to show empathy in difficult situations.
18. Emotional & Mental Requirements
- Must be able to cope with death, due to injury, illness or euthanasia

Preferences
1. Knowledge of the characteristics and appearances of common breeds of dogs, cats, and other domestic animals.
2. Skilled in the handling and care of animals.
3. Knowledge of animal care & control equipment.
4. Spanish speaking skills
Other Requirements
1. Have or be able to obtain a valid Washington State Driver’s License
2. Must pass a Washington State Patrol Background Check
3. Must pass a drug screening
Working Conditions
Work may include irregular hours, morning, and day shifts, potential weekends (both Saturday & Sunday) and holidays. Resolving conflict in a fast-paced atmosphere, multi-tasking and being a calming presence for people and animals who may be experiencing stress. Computer screens, i Pads, cell phones & other digital devices are used frequently. Animal Care & Control are expected to present a professional appearance and attitude at all times while assisting the community.
