Role Overview:
The incumbent works within the Performance Reporting and Data Integrity team as an analyst using tools to analyze and identify key trends in program performance which lead to proactive solutions. Specifically, the incumbent will function as a federal performance reporting specialist. The incumbent responds individually or as part of a team to fulfill ad hoc data requests from customers inside and outside of the agency, organizing these tasks based on priority and urgency. Work involves coordinating and leveraging resources from other teams and departments of DWD, as well as outside partners, and providing database and programming support as necessary to other teams when requested. The incumbent works with executive and program-level staff, providing data structuring, strategic research, and data analysis that can drive policy and decision-making. The incumbent must be familiar with the data sets collected in DWD’s application systems, and understand all business rules and caveats. Responsibilities include: writing SQL to extract data from DWD’s application systems, creating ad-hoc reports utilizing the extracted data to fulfill labor market information and performance requests for both internal and external customers, assisting with the maintenance of large and complex data sets, and customizing reports for repeated requests from data users. As a member of the performance team, the incumbent will assist with capacity planning, data element integration, documentation, and issues as they arise. The incumbent will work with performance team members to assist database architects from various system applications, as well as in the development of any visualization tools to be placed on our performance website
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $61,022.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Works closely with end users to gather requirements and translate them into effective/meaningful visual reporting tools;
Presents data in a fashion that is easy to understand with proper documentation and user testing for successful adoption;
Publishes workbooks to appropriate QA, production, and public servers;
Provides maintenance and support for production products;
Collaborates with other BI professionals and data engineers around data/table structures to optimize dashboards and other self-service needs;
Maintains a high degree of customer satisfaction through the implementation, investigation, analysis, training, and relationship building efforts.

What You'll Need for Success:
The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either
a Bachelor’s Degree, or
at least 3+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
Tableau certification is a plus
Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.
Visual and artistic creative skills;
Experience manipulating large datasets;
Experience in working with one or more BI platforms (ex: Tableau, Power BI);
Strong understanding of relational and dimensional databases and data warehousing structures, theories, principles, and practices;
Experience in optimizing visualizations for web and mobile device platforms;
Effective communicator and problem solver;
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities;
Strong written/oral communication and presentation/interpersonal skills;
Resourceful self-starter and highly motivated team player.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
