The Bird Handler will assist the Resort Avarist in looking after and caring for the resident parrot species at Manele Bay Resort by performing the following essential job functions:

• Follow directives from Resort Avarist
• Cover guest experience on days when Resort Avarist is scheduled off
• Must handle birds and maintain behaviors
• Routine cleaning and maintenance of all bird enclosures to high standards
• Prepare food and feed according to established procedures including access to fresh fruit and vegetables
• Maintain all feeding, behavior, training, and medical records
• Participate in behavioral enrichment
• Create and narrate animal presentations to resort guests at Malibu, KFAS or Lobby
• Learn coconut frond weaving as of a guest experience demonstration
• Assist veterinarian during routine check-ups and follow through with documented medicines or nutritional supplements as prescribed
• Report and communicate issues with supervisors
• Maintain professional working relationships with all staff and maintain a professional appearance
• Be able to work both independently and as a team
• Monitor and ensure safe working environments for birds, staff, and guests
• May also participate in wild bird programs i.e. stranded seabirds around the resort

Candidates must have valid work authorization for the U.S.
