Job Summary
The Research & Innovation Office (RIO) encourages applications for an Applied History Initiative Program Assistant! This role works with the Faculty Director and other Applied History Initiative (AHI) staff to maintain strong working relationships with program participants, guest speakers, students, and members of the Boulder-Denver community. This position provides excellent, detailed, and clear communication to all involved. This position will also assist with outreach, assessing opportunities and pedagogical materials for the Applied History 2025-2026 Program. They will help to coordinate and participate fully in 2024-2026 projects and will deliberate with the Faculty Director and AHI Staff on the criteria for choosing among and rank ordering of the constantly proliferating opportunities for ground breaking historical work, bringing academics, policymakers, and civically engaged citizens into the search for solutions, both practical and visionary.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
The Program Assistant will work closely with the Faculty Director of the Applied History Initiative on the following:
Collaborate with the Faculty Director to craft and implement experiments demonstrating the benefits of Applied History to communities facing challenges.
Assist with supervising new requests from external organizations.
Act as the communications hub for the Applied History Initiative, ensuring tasks and projects stay on track.
Coordinate updates, follow-ups, and track commitments.
Identify and address needs for clarification.
Ensure alignment on important projects.
Provide background information and scholarly context for recommendation letters, forewords, and introductions.
Develop a comprehensive inventory of Applied History methods and build a modular toolkit for distribution to history departments.
Manage logistics associated with invitations.
Train with the Program Manager for additional administrative responsibilities and training within the University of Colorado System.
What You Should Know
This is a temporary, part-time position working primarily in person.
What We Can Offer
$30 per hour.

What We Require
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
1 year of experience that includes engagement in research, oral history, and or community engagement and within an educational or museum setting.
What You Will Need
Detail oriented
Database experience
Experience with historic research and writing
Tact
What We Would Like You to Have
MA in History or related field.
2-4 years experience in educational or museum setting.
Research Networking: IE: work with historians, archivists, and institutions across Colorado to conduct research.
Community outreach within tribal systems.
Public speaking experience.
