Responsibilities:
The Office of College Admission at Brown University is seeking Adjunct Readers for the 2024-2025 undergraduate admission application reading season. This part-time, temporary position assists in the holistic review of first year applications to Brown University, and includes reviews of academic credentials, recommendations, activities and essays. Adjunct Readers provide written evaluations of credentials utilizing established criteria and professional judgment. From their assigned geographic regions, they will prepare cases, recommend decisions, and present cases to the Board of Admission. Readers must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
All reading and review is web based and completed remotely on a flexible schedule. Adjunct Readers are expected to commit a minimum of 15-20 hours per week between mid December and late March. Training will be provided in mid-December. The salary for this position is $31.00 an hour.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree and one to three years of reading experience in college admission are required, preferably at a highly selective college or university.
- Well developed computer skills and strong writing and analytical abilities are essential; we are looking for candidates who can read carefully and quickly.
- Familiarity with secondary school transcripts is required, as is knowledge of various educational systems.
- Experience with international curricula and grading systems is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
