As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the financial operations that enable us to deliver impactful programs and services to girls throughout the council. You will support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with bookkeeping functions, completing bi-weekly payroll, accounts payable, bank deposits and journals. This position will also be back-up support for the council store. Your contributions will directly support our ability to offer life-changing experiences like summer camps, STEM activities, outdoor adventures, and leadership development. To be successful in this position:
You Are:
- Committed to the policies and mission of the Girl Scout organization and willing to become a Girl Scout member.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, spreadsheets, Outlook, Adobe PDF, and database systems (such as Salesforce).
- Able to maintain strict confidentiality with all sensitive information.
- Highly organized, with the ability to multitask, handle pressure and meet deadlines.
- A team player that is able to work with a diverse group of co-workers.
- Optimistic and able to have fun while working smartly
You Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Experience with payroll, accounts payable, account reconciliations and journals preferred.
- Strong computer and technology skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with a solid background in Excel.
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
You Will:
- Spend up to 7.5 hours a day on the computer.
- Lift and carry at least 35 lbs.
- Complete an annual background check.
