ESSENTIAL PURPOSE: To prepare and make daily cash deposits, handle cash transactions for department needs, report any cash irregularities to the Controller, and assist the accounting team with other accounting duties and reconciliation functions. The expected base wage range for this position is: $22 to $26 per hour. This position may be eligible for additional compensation according to the Company's policies, as they may be amended from time to time. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
To follow all specified procedures to properly handle cash and document cash transactions, including processing due backs; making change for all specified banks; verifying and processing daily deposits and drops; processing armored car pick-up sheets; completing daily cash reconciliation sheets; and reconciling cash in safe on a daily basis.
To investigate, document, and reconcile cash overages and shortages reported on cash reconciliation forms.
To issue and receive house banks and special banks, as needed, verifying the accuracy of all banks received.
To update, on a monthly basis, and as needed, the house bank report and to reconcile to the general ledger.
To follow all specified procedures to accurately prepare reports on large cash variations, handling irregularities, or other violations in procedure, communicating appropriate matters to Controller, Manager and Human Resources.
To perform random bank audits on a continual basis.
To maintain adequate cash level to accommodate hotel business needs.
To assist Accounts Receivable, as requested, to answer customer questions and resolve credit card disputes in a professional and diplomatic manner and to assist, as directed, in bill preparation.
To assist, as directed, with month-end inventories.
To assist Accounts Payable with reconciling vendor statements, researching checkbook variances, and posting invoices.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have minimum one year experience in general accounting functions and handling cash. English fluency required. Must know ten key by touch. Computer experience required. Hotel experience preferred. SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Trustworthy and reliable. Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Learns quickly. Safety-minded. High quality standards for production and service. Diplomatic and calm. Strong verbal communications skills. Courteous, friendly, and professional manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Stands/walks approximately 20% of shift. Sits at desk approximately 80% of shift. Bends, stoops, reaches, and lifts to perform routine job tasks. Uses personal computer approximately 70% of shift. Frequent use of stairs, daily. Occasionally required to handle and move objects weighing up to 40 lbs. over short distances. Requires extensive reading and computation. Fast-paced work environment. Guest facing position that may handle conflict and/or encounter individuals who may be upset and emotional at times.
