About The Service
Cardiff Council's May Street Project for Young People Accommodation Service provides housing, advice, and support to vulnerable young individuals in need.
Our services operate 24/7, 365 days a year to ensure continuous support and care.
Due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, our service has undergone significant changes. Successful candidates will play a key role in the expansion and enhancement of our services.

About the job
We are recruiting for a Night Supported Accommodation Officer post within our Young Persons Accommodation Service, which is based in May Street, Cathays. The successful candidate will be required to undertake three shifts per week (8pm - 8am) on a rota pattern which include bank holidays and weekends.
The Night Supported Accommodation Officer (Young Persons) will be responsible for taking an active part in the provision and management of the Council’s accommodation at specified young persons' hostels and temporary accommodation services, during nighttime hours.
The post will form part of a team who are responsible for all aspects of managing a supported accommodation unit including building management, housing management, day-to-day running of the service and engaging with residents.

What We Are Looking For From You
This is an exciting opportunity, and we are seeking individuals from diverse backgrounds who are enthusiastic about making a difference. Proven experience working with young people with complex behaviours and an understanding of the issues faced by homeless individuals will be advantageous. We are looking for candidates with excellent communication skills who can inspire, enthuse, and assist young people in realising their potential and achieving independence.
The working environment can be challenging, so the ability to remain calm under pressure is beneficial. The successful candidate will also support the management team with all aspects of the service.
The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.
