About The Service
The team is responsible for delivering a front-line service. We deliver a variety of road safety and active travel initatives to children, young people and adults who live, work or study in Cardiff.
About the job
The post will manage the Independent Travel Training scheme, which supports children, young people and adults with additional learning needs in Cardiff to independently travel.
The post holder will plan, manage, deliver and promote Independent Travel Training to children, young people, and adults with additional learning needs. The training will generally be delivered on a 1:1 basis, with the aim of providing trainees with the necessary skills and confidence to travel independently to and from school. Training is also delivered in small groups during the day. The post holder will manage the Independent Travel Trainers and any recruited TA’s within school and education facilities. The post holder will take the lead in developing the team. The post-holder will work within a multi-disciplinary environment and will work collaboratively with teams and colleagues across the Education and Lifelong Learning service area and the Adults Housing & Communities service area.
The activities supported and delivered by the post-holder will complement the Council’s wider programme of projects to transform Cardiff’s transport network and meet its ambitious targets for modal shift to tackle climate change and improving air quality. We currently offer fully trained staff the opportunity to work partially from home if this is appropriate and you have a safe, secure area to work. What We Are Looking For From You
