About us
Lungs for Living, led by Professor Sam Janes is situated within UCL Respiratory, a department within the Division of Medicine at UCL. UCL Respiratory has a comprehensive laboratory suite. The laboratory includes two tissue culture facilities for both cell lines and the processing and culturing of primary tissue samples. The recently refurbished department also includes a comprehensive histology facility and microscope suite. Lungs for living has unique access to rare cohort of preinvasive patient biopsies that can be utilised for in depth multi-omic analysis, histologic analysis and in vitro primary cell maintenance.About the role
In this post we will participate in mapping longitudinal squamous cell lung cancer pathogenesis in pursuit of a preventative therapy. The role with involve working with a wide range of preclinical lung cancer models both in vitro and in vivo based. Work will focus on assessing efficacy of novel therapeutics applied interventionally in vivo and then validating perturbed signalling axes to elucidate therapeutic mechanisms in vitro. Overall the candidate is required to plan and conduct a high quality research programme ensuring the delivery of key project milestones with the aim to write and publish high quality research papers. This post is funded for 6 months in the first instance with the possibility for extension. The successful candidate will be based at the UCL Respiratory Department.About you
The successfulcandidate will be motivated, have a Ph D in a relevant subject area and haveexperience with mouse models of lung cancer and CRISPR/Cas9 modification ofhuman airway epithelial cells. They should have experience with lentiviralvectors and histological analyses.What we offer
