Job Summary The Junior Inventory Management Accountant will support the financial operations of the company by assisting in the monitoring and management of inventory transactions, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting effective inventory control practices. This role will require an individual with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for continuous improvement in inventory processes. Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Management:
Assist in tracking, recording, and reconciling inventory transactions, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and verify against system records to detect discrepancies.
Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure proper stock management, timely inventory replenishments, and minimize stock variances.
Costing & Analysis:
Support the calculation and review of inventory costs, including purchasing, freight, and handling expenses.
Analyze monthly inventory expenses and variances, reporting key findings to the Senior Accountant.
Assist in preparing and updating costing sheets and inventory reports to reflect current market prices.
Financial Reporting:
Record inventory transactions in the accounting system to maintain up-to-date financial records.
Contribute to monthly and year-end financial close processes related to inventory, including account reconciliations and adjustments.
Generate inventory reports and KPIs for management review and decision-making.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline inventory tracking processes and reduce discrepancies.
Collaborate with other departments (Procurement, Warehouse, Sales) to align inventory data and improve overall inventory accuracy.
Support automation efforts and digital tools to enhance efficiency in inventory management.
Compliance & Audits:
Assist in inventory audits and provide necessary documentation and reports as required by internal and external auditors.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and GAAP regarding inventory transactions.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
2-3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or inventory control, preferably in a similar role.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Quick Books, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Familiarity with inventory management principles and basic accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
Ability to work effectively in a team and independently manage tasks within deadlines.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Desirable Skills
Experience with ERP systems and inventory control software is a plus.
Knowledge of cost accounting practices and principles.
Basic understanding of data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
