HEAD CHEF

Job Title: Head Chef
Location: Kreeks and Krooks Restaurant and Lounge
Job Summary:
Kreeks and Krooks Restaurant and Lounge is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. The Head Chef will be responsible for the overall management of kitchen operations, including menu creation, food preparation, kitchen staff management, and ensuring that all food meets our high standards of quality and presentation. This role demands culinary excellence, leadership, and the ability to inspire and drive a team toward delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Menu Development: Create and curate an exciting, seasonal menu that reflects the restaurant’s concept and appeals to a diverse clientele. Regularly update the menu based on customer preferences and food trends.
  • Kitchen Leadership: Lead, supervise, and motivate the kitchen staff, including line cooks, sous chefs, and kitchen assistants, to ensure high standards of cooking and food safety.
  • Food Quality & Presentation: Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen are of the highest quality, taste, and presentation, maintaining consistency across all food items.
  • Staff Training: Train and mentor kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food safety protocols, and kitchen best practices, ensuring all team members are performing to their full potential.
  • Budget Management: Manage kitchen budgets, including food costs, labor, and inventory control, while optimizing resources to maintain profitability without compromising quality.
  • Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to source fresh, high-quality ingredients at competitive prices.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure the kitchen adheres to all food safety regulations and health standards, including proper sanitation, food storage, and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management, monitor stock levels, and ensure timely and efficient ordering of ingredients to minimize waste and avoid shortages.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and manage food and labor costs, implementing strategies to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with restaurant management and the front-of-house team to ensure alignment between the kitchen’s operations and overall customer service goals.
  • Special Events & Catering: Lead menu design and execution for special events, private functions, and catering services, ensuring the same quality as the regular menu.
  • Innovation: Stay updated on culinary trends and continuously experiment with new flavors, ingredients, and techniques to keep the menu fresh and appealing.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Degree or certification in Culinary Arts or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a chef, with at least 2 years in a leadership or head chef position, preferably in a high-end or fine-dining establishment.
  • Culinary Expertise: Proficiency in a wide variety of cooking techniques, including grilling, baking, and international cuisines. Expertise in menu planning and cost control.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire, train, and manage kitchen staff effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in food preparation, plating, and quality control.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make quick decisions to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
  • Budgeting & Cost Management: Solid understanding of food costing, budget management, and inventory control.
  • Passion: Genuine passion for culinary arts and dedication to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Preferred:
  • Experience in managing a restaurant with a lounge or bar component.
  • Knowledge of modern culinary trends and fusion cuisine.
  • Familiarity with food safety certifications (e.g., Serv Safe) and industry best practices.
