Job Title: Chef Location: Kreeks and Krooks Restaurant and Lounge Job Summary: Kreeks and Krooks Restaurant and Lounge is seeking a passionate and creative Chef to lead our kitchen and deliver high-quality dining experiences. The Chef will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, designing menus, managing food preparation, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This role requires a blend of culinary expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to innovate while maintaining consistency. Key Responsibilities:
Menu Development: Design and implement seasonal menus, featuring a variety of dishes that reflect the restaurant’s concept and appeal to our target market.
Food Preparation: Supervise and participate in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes, ensuring consistency and adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations, including ordering supplies, managing inventory, and scheduling kitchen staff.
Cost Control: Monitor food costs and implement strategies to minimize waste and maximize profitability while maintaining the quality of ingredients.
Quality Control: Ensure all food meets our high standards of taste, freshness, and presentation. Conduct regular taste tests and kitchen audits.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that the kitchen complies with health and safety regulations, including food storage, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
Staff Training & Leadership: Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring they follow proper cooking techniques, safety protocols, and cleanliness standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with restaurant management to ensure alignment between the kitchen and front-of-house operations. Attend meetings and provide input on customer preferences and sales trends.
New Dish Creation: Develop and experiment with new dishes and flavors, incorporating customer feedback and industry trends.
Event Catering: Design custom menus for special events, private functions, and catering services offered by the restaurant and lounge.
Supplier Relations: Build relationships with local suppliers and vendors to source fresh, high-quality ingredients while negotiating the best prices.
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure efficient use of resources, keeping food and supply costs within budget.
Qualifications:
Education: Degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a chef in a high-volume kitchen, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Culinary Skills: Expert in a variety of cooking techniques, including grilling, sautéing, baking, and plating. Knowledge of current culinary trends and innovations.
Creativity: Ability to create unique and exciting dishes that resonate with the restaurant’s theme and attract customers.
Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate and develop kitchen staff.
Time Management: Excellent organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and kitchen stations efficiently.
Problem-Solving: Quick decision-making skills to address issues related to staffing, food quality, and kitchen operations.
Passion: Genuine passion for cooking and delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Preferred:
Experience in the restaurant and lounge industry.
Familiarity with international cuisines and fusion cooking.
Understanding of food safety regulations and certifications (e.g., Serv Safe).
