Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau Hauora are on a mission to realize Māori potential and enhance health outcomes and longevity. As the Physical Activity and Nutrition Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in boosting the health and wellbeing of rangatahi Māori and their whānau.
You will manage a caseload, focusing on increasing physical activity levels and promoting better nutrition for long-term health benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the rangatahi physical activity and nutrition programme.
- Create a project plan, ensuring key funding deliverables are met.
- Foster strong networks with hapū, iwi, rangatahi groups, kura kaupapa Māori, health, and sporting agencies.
- Collaborate with national training providers to develop and implement programmes.
- Organize activities like physical events, wananga, and tournaments.
- Evaluate programmes and manage budgets.
- Provide education and health promotion to enhance well-being.
- Implement strategies to improve long-term health outcomes for rangatahi Māori.
- Work with whānau and caregivers to empower and support rangatahi.
- Complete reporting requirements efficiently.
Nga pūkenga me whai | The successful candidate requirements:
- Diploma in Sport and Recreation or similar, is desirable but not essential.
- Experience in preparing exercise plans.
- Proven leadership and coaching abilities.
- Understanding of at-risk whānau.
- Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Strong relationship and network management.
- Full, clean driver's licence.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of TKKH and the Eastern Bay of Plenty Communities.
- Organisational skills to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and clear boundary-setting abilities.
- Non-smoker/vaper.
- Understanding of tikanga Māori (desirable).
