Kaiako Rangatahi – Hei Tikitiki / Hei Toki

Mō mātau (About us)
As a proudly indigenous tertiary educator, ‘tauira success’ is our mission and ‘whānau transformation through education’ is our vision, guiding our commitment to delivering quality education programmes underpinned by Māori culture and values.
Our kaimahi (employees) enjoy a whānau-friendly workplace and a great range of benefits to support their wellbeing and that of their whānau:
  • Free health and life insurance for permanent employees.
  • Four extra leave days each year to celebrate Matariki and Christmas, plus special leave available for those involved in cultural or sporting events.
  • Flexible work hours and work-from-home options for some roles.
  • Free car parking at our main campuses.

Mō tēnei mahi (About this job)

We are looking for a Kaiako to deliver the Hei Tikitiki / Hei Toki programme. This permanent, full-time role starts in January 2025.
This role includes, but is not limited to, developing lesson plans, delivering content to tauira (students), addressing their learning needs, and assessing their progress. Flexibility for occasional weekend and evening work may be required.

Mōu (About you)

The ideal Kaiako will possess a strong understanding of adolescent brain development and youth development approaches, with a proven track record of achieving positive outcomes for rangatahi. You will bring with you:
  • Diploma (L5) in Youth Work or related field
  • New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 (NZCATT L5) or equivalent, or a willingness to complete it within the first year of employment
  • National Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education Level 5 (NCALNE L5)
  • Full and current NZ Driver Licence
  • Clean Police Record
  • 4+ years in social service, youth work, or similar role
  • 4+ years working with Māori & Pasifika communities
  • 4+ years in community engagement.
  • 4+ years participation in youth initiatives or projects
  • Adult teaching experience
