The Budget team has the primary responsibility for coordinating the Budget process, including working closely with the Minister of Finance and her office. The Budget team supports the Government and the wider public service by leading each phase of the annual Budget process, including Budget strategy, design, ministerial decision-making and production.
The Budget team supports the production of the Economic and Fiscal Updates and other public finance processes. We also act as an advisor to Treasury teams on fiscal implications and applying the fiscal management approach to various proposals.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
We have some exciting opportunities in our Budget team for Analysts and Senior Analysts to join us on a fixed-term or secondment basis until June 2025 to support the delivery of priority areas at Budget 2025.
These roles will be based in the Budget team, but with the expectation that they would also provide support to other parts of the Treasury working on priority projects for the Budget.
Roles in the Budget are high-profile and provide plenty of opportunities for personal growth and stretch. As well as having responsibility for delivering specific outputs, you'll be part of a close-knit team working together on one of the Treasury's key products.
Appointing salary for this role will be between:
Analysts: $90,041 and $105,930 per annum, based on skills and experience
Senior Analysts: $126,612 and $148,955 per annum, based on skills and experience
Ō pūmanawa | About You
The ideal candidates preferably should have a general understanding of the Budget process and the public financial management system, be able to deliver quality advice in a flexible and fast-paced work environment, have strong relationship management and communication skills, and enjoy working in a high performing team with a supportive and friendly culture.
For Senior Analyst applications, a minimum of five years' policy experience is a must.
