Divisional Services and Administration is a team of highly skilled professionals responsible for delivering outstanding student and staff experiences through high quality, confidential secretarial and administrative support services. We are a strong supportive whakawhanaungatanga (community), proud of the work we do as the largest workforce in the university, spanning every corner of the motu.
The role/Te mahi
You will be part of a dedicated team providing essential support in the Faculty of Dentistry to our undergraduate and postgraduate dental programmes and dental hospital services.
An important role that contributes to the education of New Zealand’s future dental/oral health professionals, you will provide administrative support to one or more clinic and teaching work areas where you will become a trusted point of contact for patients, students, staff and visitors.
This role is varied and will see you:
  • Working across reception in the Dental Hospital.
  • Scheduling appointments, meeting and greeting patients.
  • Supporting academic staff with all aspects of the teaching program.
  • General administration; diary management and travel arrangements.
  • Organising events.

We are seeking a proactive customer focused person with excellent communication and relationship building skills.
Being a highly organised individual, you will have the flexibility and passion for delivering exceptional assistance to others where it is needed most.
Your sense of humour and inquisitive mindset will help you navigate the complexities of a medical clinic environment.
Key skills required include:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, with ability to adapt and navigate new systems.
  • An ongoing commitment to positive outcomes for students, patients, staff, and visitors.
  • A willingness to be adaptable and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • The ability to be calm, and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dedication to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner and demonstrated understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.
Further details/Pūroko
This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours) position, based in Otepōti, Dunedin.
The appointment range for this role is $59,285 to $63,651. Top of range is $68,744.
You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this position.
