Job Title: Transport Supervisor Reports To: Transport Manager / Logistics Manager Job Summary: The Transport Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the transportation department. This role involves supervising drivers, managing fleet schedules, ensuring vehicles are maintained, and coordinating transportation logistics. The primary objective is to ensure the efficient and safe movement of goods or passengers while maintaining compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Coordination:
Supervise and manage the work schedules of drivers and transport staff.
Ensure timely dispatch of vehicles for deliveries or passenger transport.
Monitor transportation routes and make real-time adjustments to improve efficiency.
Fleet Management:
Oversee routine vehicle maintenance and inspections to ensure safety standards.
Coordinate with the maintenance department for timely vehicle repairs.
Track fuel consumption and optimize routes to minimize costs.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards.
Implement and monitor safety procedures for drivers and vehicles.
Conduct safety meetings and provide training for drivers.
Logistics & Planning:
Plan and execute efficient transport routes for timely deliveries or passenger pickups/drop-offs.
Coordinate with warehouse or dispatch teams to optimize loading and unloading processes.
Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact between drivers, management, and clients/customers.
Address and resolve any transport-related issues or conflicts that arise.
Keep accurate records of vehicle logs, maintenance schedules, and driver performance.
Inventory & Documentation:
Maintain up-to-date transport records, including trip sheets, fuel logs, vehicle maintenance, and insurance details.
Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, costs, and transport efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or diploma in logistics, transportation management, or related field is preferred.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet management.
Prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of transportation laws and safety regulations.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
Proficiency in route planning, fleet management software, and MS Office.
