Industrial Manager

Amentum is actively seeking an Industrial Manager for International Fleet Support under the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) PMS 326 Follow-On Technical Support (FOTS) contract. This is a full-time position, and the work location will be at the Egyptian Naval Base in the port of Alexandria, Egypt. This position includes a competitive benefits package.

Essential responsibilities and daily duties include:
  • Acts as top decision maker for all technical team matters and resolve any internal issues that arise over the technical repairs and assessment needs for the Egyptian Navy (EN) Fleet.
  • Meets or exceeds customers' realistic expectations for quality, productivity, and safety on projects and repairs. Manages the customer relationship through any changes in the scope and schedule changes of the fleet to assure continuing customer satisfaction and technical repairs.
  • Resolves issues daily with customers, owners, and other interested parties. Represents the company fairly and consistently when interacting with customers.
  • Works closely with the EN, Production Team, and Port Engineers to estimate, plan, execute, and settle the technical needs for the EN Fleet. Provides all necessary documentation for repairs and negotiation repair periods in a timely manner.
  • Interprets specifications, ship schematics, repair sequencing, and coordinates the various phases of the technical projects to prevent delays and avoid rework.
  • Ensures that technical reports are properly written and approved before providing them to the in-country stakeholders.
  • Writes timely and accurate reports for each job and contribute accordingly to final written specifications.
  • Confers with supervision, project management staff, and project inspectors to ensure materials are identified to resolve equipment technical problems for approved repair methods.
  • Plans, coordinates, and directs repair activities for assigned projects. Assures appropriate daily team staffing for technical repairs, through subordinate supervision. Oversees audits for subordinates’ reporting and monitor job progress to ensure that manpower utilization and allocation meets the job requirements. Makes appropriate changes as necessary.
  • Prepares periodic management reports on work progress, materials used and costs. Adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports to ensure adherence to the work process.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with craft workers, customers, and Port Engineers. Assures that issues are resolved efficiently and with minimal disruption to the project, when complaints or disputes occur, whether directly or through managers, supervisors, or other resource.
  • Leads the technical team in a postmortem review of each completed repair project and assure complete documentation and dissemination of all lessons learned to capture best practices and to avoid repeating mistakes. Ensures that lessons learned on projects are captured in the preplanning phase of new projects.
  • Ensures worker safety and environmental concerns are constantly monitored, and problems are effectively resolved.
  • Assess and documents overall work performance of direct reports by completion of repairs. Ensures performance documentation by managers or supervisors of all assigned technical personnel. Identifies strengths and weaknesses of technical team members and recommend specific development activities.
  • Remains actively involved at an operational level in reviewing the relevant technical repairs or needs, to ensure quality and capability for performing work internally versus subcontracting to outside suppliers and vendors.
  • Manages and provides oversight for the technical team and/or vendor performance on the project, including setting expectations for such groups. It is critical to the overall vessel schedule of the technical repairs that the TAT actively monitors and drives the performance standards of all those under their charge and holds them accountable.
  • Monitors job progress and uses earned value management techniques to identify problem areas and forecast costs. Reports on repair performance.
  • Provides timely and comprehensive inputs for the Monthly Status Report.


Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, precision measurement tools, and equipment to perform repairs and have a thorough knowledge of standard shipyard practices.
  • 10 years of experience in shipyard production, industrial operations, or marine project management, particularly focused on naval surface ships.
  • 5 years of leadership experience overseeing multiple departments in a shipyard or large industrial facility.
  • Working experience with or managing international military contracts, particularly in communicating and collaborating with foreign navies like the Egyptian Navy.
  • Oversee the entire production process, managing the activities of all departments, including welding, ship fitting, machining, pipefitting, valve repair, diesel shop, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to ensure all teams work in unison to meet the ship repair and maintenance schedule for all Naval Ships.
  • Working knowledge of ship systems as it relates to how they interact with construction/repair sequencing. Use a systems approach to work planning and execution.
  • Oversee the quality control department, ensuring all work meets NAVSEA, ABS, and Egyptian Navy standards.
  • Ability to attend regular meetings with the Egyptian Navy representatives to discuss production progress, address concerns, and ensure that all requirements are being met.

  • Ability to ensure strict adherence to military specification, naval standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Possess strong leadership skills, including conflict resolution, real-time decision-making, high performance expectations and the capability of inspiring the team to meet them.
  • Strong customer relationship skills to achieve customer satisfaction through their buy-in to business and project realities rather than diluting project actuals.
  • Demonstrated hands-on approach to problem-solving and knowing the ship and the technical repairs.
  • Strong understanding of NAVSEA, MIL-SPEC, and classification society standards (e.g. ABS, DNV-GL) for naval ship and production repair.
  • Possess strong leadership experience, leading a team of 15+ personnel.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with basic computer operation with ability to create and maintain various reports and spreadsheets, as required.
  • Ability to maintain a strong working relationship with EN counterparts in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to obtain a Country Clearance and Base Pass authorization.
  • Ability to possess a current passport at least two years before expiration after arrival in Egypt.
  • Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior ship maintenance experience or working knowledge of expectations and safety protocols related to a shipyard environment.
  • Experience working in an Arab country for long periods.
