Brief Job Description Reporting to the QA Manager, the HACCP Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and updating CFIA recognized HACCP Program and to ensure that products meet quality and food safety standards established by the company, customers, CFIA and 3rd Party auditors. To proactively train, implement and enforce the fundamentals of GMP, HACCP and audit programs. Please note this facility operates as an abattoir and a processing facility. The position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager. Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP and Pre-requisite programs in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to update HACCP Plans, including monitoring, verification, and record-keeping procedures.
Organize and train employees on HACCP principles, food safety practices, GMP, and written programs
Conduct internal audits and inspections to assess adherence to HACCP protocols and recommend corrective actions.
Participate in audits, including CFIA and external audits (i.e. BRC)
Stay current on food safety regulations, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve HACCP programs.
Manage documentation and records related to HACCP plans, including maintaining accurate logs, reports, and data analysis.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning for non-conformance related to food safety.
Implements and enforces HACCP & GMP policies.
Provide support and backup for QA Technicians when required.
Ensures compliance with CVS tasks and CFIA audits and maintains current grades for BRC audits.
Requirements
Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, or a related field.
Minimum 2-3 years experience working as a HACCP Coordinator in a processing facility or manufacturing environment; food industry experience is an asset.
HACCP Certificate from a recognized institution is required.
Able to prioritize tasks based on urgency.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Power Point and Word).
Superior problem-solving abilities.
