Coordinator for Community Outreach, Resources and Engagement – 12 month Term Hours - 1.0 EFT - 72.5 hours bi-weekly Hourly Wage - $31.24 to $38.74 SUMMARY OF POSITION An independent practitioner working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, who plays a key role in improving access to food resources, basic needs, and creating doorways to primary care and social service supports through outreach, engagement and building trusting relationships with community and key partners. Grounded in person-centered, anti-oppressive, culturally safe and social justice-oriented practice, the individual creates and maintains a safe and welcoming environment/points of contact for the people we serve. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Outreach Programming and Supports
Coordinate and carry out food security programming (pantry) programming, including coordination of all food pick up and distribution of food to all 3 Youville sites and partners.
Maintain a high level of knowledge and awareness of community resources including additional food security resources, shelter and supports for youth and adults.
Support the implementation of the outreach walks – At Huddle South Central and lead the development of an outreach walk within the St Vital and surrounding community.
Build relationships and partnerships with other agencies, programs, companies, businesses and organizations within the systems of health and social services to strengthen outreach and engagement efforts.
Assist in building infrastructure within Youville to sustain outreach and engagement activities.
Crisis-Intervention and De-Escalation
Integrate trauma-informed/healing centered principles and strategies in preventing and diffusing situations
Create and facilitate a calm, compassionate environment for those experiencing distress.
Evaluate immediate safety risks, de-escalate and diffuse conflict in an assertive, timely fashion
_ Program Administration_
Develop and coordinate programming as required (information sessions, resources, groups, events, infrastructure) for multiple and diverse audiences (community, partners, funders etc.)
Provide support to students/volunteers as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS:
Relevant combination of education and experience in the areas of social services, or related field.
Minimum 2 years’ of service support in a community-based setting with a focus on outreach activities.
Demonstrated knowledge of resources in the community and of the unique issues facing folks who are subjected to poverty, houselessness, discrimination and systemic oppression.
Experience working with youth, young adults is an asset

Knowledge and understanding of diverse traditions and cultural practices with an emphasis on honouring and understanding of Indigenous practices.
· This role has some physical requirements including:
Must be able to lift, carry and load heavy up to 50 lbs
Required to stand and walk throughout the day
Required to be outside throughout the year on our outreach walks (2x a week)
