The Product Owner for the Data Streaming Platform (Confluent Cloud Kafka) is a hybrid role located at Qantas HQ Mascot, as a direct report of the Head of Technology - Data and Analytics for Qantas Group Technology. A day in the life of the PO will cover the end-to-end ownership of the Data Streaming Platform, encompassing: Product Strategy, Roadmap, Stakeholder engagement, Platform adoption, Delivery management of the Dev Ops squad, Vendor Management and Operational Service Management.

Your stakeholders cut across many business and technology domains within Qantas, supporting some of Qantas’ most critical applications and strategic initiatives for the Group. You and your Dev Ops team will collaborate with Architects, Development Teams and Business Technology to meet their use case objectives, and continually align your backlog priorities to maximise the benefits the platform delivers in a timely fashion. While you ensure executive stakeholders are across the Strategic direction, Art of Possible, Roadmap, KPIs, TCO and budget targets you own and are tracking.

As the Product Owner of a critical technology platform of Qantas, you will ensure the platform's reliability through collaboration with your Operational Support team to ensure the platform is stable, scalable and performs optimally, minimising downtime and technical issues. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, focus on service excellence, innovation and collaboration with your Dev Ops squad and Developer community.
You’ll have:
  • Extensive experience in an Agile environment (or equivalent work experience) and 5+ years in a technology or delivery related role
  • A proven product and delivery mindset
  • Deep experience working with technology vendors
  • Experience in coaching and modelling Agile mind-set and ways of working
  • Proficient in multiple Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, design thinking, HCD, and other frameworks
  • Proven ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to solve, or lead the solving of, strategic problems of high complexity on a large scale
  • Expert stakeholder management and commercial acumen to link both business and technical functions
  • Experience designing and facilitating fit for purpose workshops that deliver defined outcomes
  • Solid experience in operational service management
  • Experience within Data or Integration beneficial
  • Strong financial management skills, ability to manage contracts with 3rd parties and range of budgets depending on the products
