About Our Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Specialist at our Bathurst vegetable and snack lines processing plant. Simplot Bathurst employs over 200 people and having been a part of the local community since 1926, continues to produce Edgell products, as well as products for Birds Eye and Chiko.
An investment of $90 million is currently being made at the site. This investment will transform the site into a frozen vegetable centre of excellence, enable increased production capacity, and ultimately help boost local and export volumes. The works which are anticipated to be completed in late 2024, will see the sites facilities upgraded, the extension of existing production areas, and the installation of new equipment, including new vegetable processing technologies.
Reporting to the Logistics Area Manager, in this Mon-Fri day shift role, the Logistics Specialist will lead and manage inventory movements to support production and packing requirements - delivering value through inventory accuracies, reduced logistics spend, improved on-time and accurate delivery and operational excellence.
What You Will Do
Working closely with our wider Production & Packing teams, duties will include (but are not limited to):
Monitor and control inventory movements
Support the Logistics department in generation and deployment of KPI figures
Monitor effective up-time and availability of forklift fleet
Stock control disposition (aged & held stock) and reporting
Forecasting & inventory control
Facilitate tier 1 daily meetings - capturing & addressing any safety, quality and operational concerns
Attend cross functional tier meetings
Analyse data trends to determine process improvement opportunities
Contribute to site Continuous Improvement (CI) activities
Development of SOPs
About You
100% commitment to health and safety in the workplace
Possess a demonstrated background in logistics / inventory control / load planning with food processing experience being advantageous.
Exceptional troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
Strong attention to detail
High level of both verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate user of Windows based systems
Ability to self start whilst contributing to team activities
Possess an analytical mindset with the ability to provide daily, weekly and monthly reporting to stakeholders
Customer / vendor management experience
Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment (incl. urine based drug & alcohol testing)
