About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the Commission) is a regulator established on 1
July 2018 as an independent agency under section 181A of the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Act 2013 (the NDIS Act) to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services.
The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in Australia.

During its formative phase, the Commission’s focus was on establishing the essential systems
and processes needed to meet its legislated responsibilities. The Commission is the process of
scaling up and maturing its operations to becoming an effective, approachable and
transparent regulator.

The Commission has more than doubled its number of staff in the last 12 months as a result of
receiving significant funding by the government.
