Internal Review
- Draft administrative decisions, brief delegates and co-ordinate responses relating
to complex or sensitive matters relating to the functions of the Internal Integrity
Unit. This will include effectively managing multiple matters, which may include
freedom of information requests, complaint or public interest disclosure
investigations, internal reviews or privacy matters;
- Co-ordinate and gather information relating to matters and monitor compliance
with statutory and internal timeframes;
- Use appropriate tools (including the Microsoft Office suite) and templates to aid
processing of and reporting on matters against tight deadlines;
- Respond to inquiries regarding the functions of the Internal Integrity Unit to
internal and external stakeholders;
- Work collaboratively with staff of the NDIS Commission, including with Legal
Services Branch in relation to external review proceedings and with decision-
makers in relation to freedom of information and internal review matters;
- Manage highly sensitive or confidential material, including public interest
disclosures, treating information with appropriate sensitivity; and
- Assess and develop practice with a continuous improvement lens to develop
capability within the NDIS Commission.
FOI
- Assist the freedom of information (FOI) team in creating, processing, and making
FOI decisions, including routine and sensitive access requests, ensuring all matters
are recorded and closed correctly.
- Frequently liaise with business areas to identify relevant documents and consult
on proposed exemptions.
- Effectively engage with FOI applicants, other Commonwealth and State agencies
and third parties in formal consultation processes.
- Draft FOI decisions with limited supervision, and brief delegates in relation to
requests for access to documents made under the FOI Act.
- Demonstrate good judgement and pay careful attention to detail in order to make
lawful decisions confidently, while undertaking analysis and drawing accurate
conclusions based on evidence.
- Assist the Senior FOI Officer and Assistant Director in responding to requests for
information from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)
relating to applications for OAIC review of FOI decisions.
- Assist in developing and maintaining internal FOI reference materials including FOI
templates and other reporting functions, as needed.

Manage confidential material and treat information with appropriate sensitivity.
The Administrative Review Officer is also responsible for assisting the Assistant Directors and
the Director with any other tasks as is required from time to time.
