The Role
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders such as the Joint Transition Authority, the Department of Veterans' Affairs and health care providers to improve the experience within the health transition ecosystem for members transitioning from Defence.
- Identify and collaboratively develop programs to address areas of need, with a focus on continuous improvement and assurance.
- Contribute to the evaluation and input to internal and external transition programs and initiatives.
- Engage with stakeholders and partners to advise on transition policies and services from a health service delivery perspective.
- Provide Joint Health Command input into transition policies and practices to ensure synchronisation and clarity across the health transition ecosystem.
- Contribute to Joint Health Command ministerial communications including coordination of input, preparation of briefs and talking points.
- Maintain and adhere to Defence Values and Behaviours.
About our Team
You will be working as part of the Clinical Advisory Group (CAG) within Garrison Health branch of Joint Health Command.
The CAG is a multidisciplinary team of senior healthcare professionals who provide subject matter expert advice in their respective clinical fields (e.g. doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, dentists) to regional health units and various stakeholders.
The CAG works in collaboration with the services (Army, Navy and Air Force), in addition to Australian Public Service and Contracted Health Professionals to meet Defence strategic health priorities and operational requirements.

- Ability to use initiative and work flexibly and autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Experience with information management systems and the collation and interpretation of data.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to quickly develop networks with stakeholders and engagement partners.
- Knowledge or ability to quickly acquire an understanding of the transition ecosystem.
- Demonstrated experience working with veterans and an understanding of the challenges veterans encounter when transitioning from Defence into civilian life.
- Experience with change programs/reform and the ability to plan and develop programs and reform initiatives.
- Experience drafting briefs for senior leadership including ministerial responses and briefs.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
