Primary objective
Provide high-level service and support within the delivery of Early Career programs, supporting employment initiatives and
achieving outcomes for the Northern Territory Public Sector with a particular focus on program participant support.
Context statement
Workforce Development team delivers strategic workforce initiatives to meet client agency requirements and achieve
improved workforce outcomes. This role is in the Early Careers team which is responsible for the management of six
centralised early careers programs delivered across the Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS). The Early Careers Advisor
supports the management, coordination, and delivery of enterprise-wide early careers programs by delivering human
resources people management functions including delivering pastoral care to program participants.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide support to participants and supervisors participating in early careers programs across a range of government
agencies and disciplines.
2. Nurture positive relationships with agencies, regional staff, and service providers across the Territory to deliver flexible,
tailored, and innovative employment programs.
3. Assist in researching, planning, promoting, and delivering programs such as graduate and trainee programs.
4. Participate in the marketing, recruitment, selection, and induction of participants.
5. Provide feedback and recommendations on participant progress and workplace challenges.
6. Assist with evaluating and reporting on program progress and challenges including innovative solutions to meet changing
organisational workforce needs.
7. Maintain accurate participant attendance records and workplace visit progress notes in various systems.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience mentoring, coaching, influencing, and establishing strong professional relationships that maximise
positive employment outcomes.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of vocational and non-vocational programs and strategies that promote
positive employment outcomes.
3. High level of interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to understand, negotiate and resolve conflict.
4. Demonstrated personal drive with an ability to manage time and competing priorities to meet deadlines.
5. Ability to apply judgement and initiative to achieve quality outcomes and strategic objectives.
6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of being honest, professional, respectful,
accountable, and innovative.
