The purpose of the District Manager position is to identify productivity constraints within a designated district, develop a plan to address these issues, and ensure the plan is delivered. This is done in collaboration with local industry and the research translation group.
The Northern District Manager is responsible for the Herbert milling region, the Tully Sugar milling region and South Johnstone milling region (up to the North Johnstone River). The office for the role is in Ingham or Tully.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Develop strong and trusted relationships with key stakeholders within the district and act as the “face of SRA” and key interface for all stakeholder relations within the district.
Play a strong coordination role within the district to support tangible uplifts in district productivity by developing and implementing district productivity plans with agreed productivity targets and supporting initiatives.
Work with the Translational Research and Communications teams to develop concepts and oversee projects to develop and extend tools and services to the industry which enable growth in productivity, profitability, and sustainable practices within the district.
Maintain involvement in and support for district-based project activity, taking an oversight role to ensure that all projects are delivered to the satisfaction of industry and partners across the district.
Promote SRA’s products, services, and tools to improve industry’s engagement and participation with SRA, and adoption of research findings, tools and methods.
Market, promote and manage distribution relationships for new varieties to improve the uptake of approved seed within the district
You will bring with you the following qualifications, capabilities and experience:
Essential
Degree in Agricultural science, Biological science, or engineering.
Strong knowledge and significant experience working in the Australian sugarcane industry or another agricultural industry.
Experience in building strong and trusted industry relationships.
Broad understanding across research disciplines.
Delivery of applied research outcomes to create real change in industry performance.
Strong collaborator across the organisation and external partners.
Outstanding stakeholder relationships skills – customers, peers, staff, influencers, and Board.
