The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people, and their careers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention, and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).
The Counselling and Case Support Manager, Primary Care & Community Health will provide operational and professional leadership and management to Counselling and Case Support staff in the Child, Family and Priority Populations stream.
The delivery of efficient, effective, and trauma-informed clinical counselling and case support for children, their families and people experiencing violence, abuse, and neglect and have the responsibility for the quality of client services and risk management strategies and ensures accountability for professional practice and patient safety in the Counselling and Case Support unit.

What you will bring to the role
- Qualified Allied Health professional with current AHPRA registration or eligibility for professional membership with the relevant National body should the profession not be registered with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated relevant extensive leadership experience with a proven ability to develop and maintain a competent and cohesive Counselling and Case Support unit, incorporating different allied health disciplines, in the areas of child protection, sexual assault and domestic violence.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead a multidisciplinary allied health unit within a complex environment, evidenced through the use of highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, advocacy and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage human, financial and physical resources effectively and efficiently to meet budget and performance targets for Counselling and Case Support programs.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and analyse clinical services and lead the implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based and trauma-informed practice and contemporary models of care within allied health services that are person-centred and consider diversity and patient flow within the whole of health and social service systems.
- Ability to develop collaborative partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and compliant service provision.
- Extensive experience and skills in policy development, planning and evaluation, financial management, clinical governance, change management and service development for Counselling and Case Support services for children, families and people experiencing violence, abuse and neglect.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites and facilities across a large geographic area, which may include overnight stays.
