About Us
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region.

The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Services (IVPRS) are responsible for strategic leadership, clinical service provision and capacity building for the portfolio areas of sexual assault, domestic violence, child protection and victims of crime.

The Child Protection Clinician is responsible for the provision of specialist tertiary level therapeutic and case management services to children, young people and their parent’s/caregivers who have been in contact with the statutory child protection system or who are under the age of 10 years and are referred with problematic and sexually harmful sexual behaviours.

What you will bring to the role
  • Degree in Social Worker from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australia Association of Social Workers, or Degree in Psychology with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, or Bachelor’s Degree in counselling or Welfare from a recognised and accepted education provider, as deemed appropriate by the employer.
  • Demonstrated high level understanding of the dynamics, intersection and effects of child abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and domestic and family violence.
  • Demonstrated and extensive experience in carrying out assessment and case management activities and in providing specialist counselling to children and families with proven ability to make independent professional judgements about case planning and clinical management of a complex client group.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in delivering best practice models for working individually and systemically with children, young people and adults who have experienced trauma and abuse including experience in holding an overarching trauma informed framework.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people who have experienced interpersonal and intergenerational trauma.
  • Demonstrated high level experience/knowledge of Child Protection statutory systems, reporting responsibilities and health role in recognising and responding to child abuse and neglect.
  • Experience in and commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to use for work purposes. This may include driving long distances across the LHD.
