The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Drug and Alcohol Service offers free, non-judgemental services and treatments for drug and/or alcohol use, including information and support for families.
An opportunity is now available to join the Inpatient Detoxification team as a Wardsperson. This position is located at Nepean Hospital in a Permanent Full time role.
Our service offers Specialist Drug and Alcohol Doctors, Nurses and Allied Health staff who respect the client's right to choose from a range of treatments offered with our services underpinned by a philosophy of harm reduction.

This position is responsible for transporting patients and items throughout the hospital and providing assistance to patients within the clinical setting. This role will see you provide services in a courteous and efficient manner with particular attention to customer service. Working within NBMLHD will allow you to meet the needs of staff, patients and their families whilst working in a diverse team demonstrating CORE values whilst providing exceptional person-centered care.

What you will bring to the role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanour and ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Be able to meet the physical demands of the position as listed in the physical requirements in the position description.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Work Health and Safety issues basic manual handling techniques involved in lifting and transferring patients.
- Good time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Competent in computer use and relevant software programs eg Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Current drivers’ licence and willingness to use for work purposes.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
