About the Role
Join our dedicated team of therapists in Tamworth, NSW, focused on providing intensive family therapy through the Multi-Systemic Therapy (Child Abuse and Neglect) framework. As a Clinician on our MST-CAN team, you will deliver in-home clinical services to families, work collaboratively to set therapeutic goals, and utilize systemic resources to achieve these objectives.
The mission of MST-CAN is to keep families united and ensure children's safety while addressing mental health challenges and enhancing social support. This internationally recognized program is tailored for families with children aged 6-17. MST-CAN stands out by involving all family members in the treatment process, helping to mitigate the risk of children entering out-of-home care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct MST-CAN assessments including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviours within the ecological context.
  • Engage primary caregiver and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
  • Using the MST Analytic Process implement problem conceptualisation, treatment planning, intervention implementation, outcome review and strategy revision procedure.
  • Provide direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with MST Principles and the MST Analytic Process.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with community stakeholders to ensure collaboration among service providers.
Skills and Experience
  • Masters level qualification in psychology, clinical social work, counselling and/or mental health nursing
  • Registration / Eligibility for registration with relevant professional body
  • Experience working with children and families in a therapeutic setting
  • Child Protection experience preferable
  • Experience in working in the area of drug and alcohol rehabilitation
  • Experience in delivering a range of therapies including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma focussed CBT, Prolonged Exposure (PE), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Structural Family Therapy, Strategic Family Therapy, and behaviourally based treatments preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake regular regional travel throughout the New England Region
  • Current Australian drivers’ licence
