Why this role matters
The Salvation Army Family Violence Stream provides a broad range of programs to support women and their children who have experienced domestic, family and sexual violence. Our services provide specialised support to address immediate safety needs and provide casework, referrals, and connection to assist the healing and recovery journey.
About the role
We are seeking a passionate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander woman for the Outreach Case Manager position. Your role will be to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women and children impacted by family violence, who are living in the community or who have recently left the refuge.
As the Outreach Case Manager, you will also strengthen working relationships and referral pathways with other organisations and contribute to community development projects.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time position based at the Catherine Haven service in Broken Hill, NSW. Salary in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.

You will successfully
- Provide culturally-responsive support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women and children impacted by family violence, aiming to improve connections with community, Country, and culture.
- Provide case management to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women and their children living in the community who are at risk of, experiencing or have experienced family violence, to increase their safety and work towards their goals
- Provide case management to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women and their children who are moving into transitional or long-term housing from the refuge, to work towards their goals and maintain stable housing
- Assist clients to access support services and establish community supports, and where needed assist through advocacy with service providers
- Build and strengthen working relationships and partnerships with other service providers and community groups
- Take part in community awareness raising and development projects and events
- Support day-to-day operations at the refuge and be part of a rotating on-call roster
You will have
- Current Employee NSW Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain one).
- Valid NSW Driver Licence.
- Demonstrated cultural expertise and experience engaging with First Nations Peoples, communities, and service providers
- Relevant qualifications in social work, welfare, community development or related field AND/OR demonstrated knowledge and skills attained through previous employment/community work and willingness to complete education and qualification
- Experience in case management in the family violence sector or working closely with people who have experienced family violence is desirable.
- Experience in dealing with complex and diverse issues for First Nations communities and methods of providing culturally appropriate solutions is desirable.
