The role is to deliver practical and emotional support to young people who are homeless and in crisis. To provide a referral service to appropriate community service providers. To deliver a safe, secure and clean environment for the client group, in a 24-hour accommodation setting.
This role is a casual position , based in Bundaberg , QLD
As the Youth Support Worker, you will have the responsibility for the following:
- Develop effective and supportive relationships with clients, ensuring that each client is treated with respect, dignity and confidentiality.
- Develop a co-operative relationship with all staff members, to ensure an effective team approach to program implementations and service delivery.
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate appropriate life skills and other appropriate programs for clients.
- Provide information and referral service to non-government and statutory organisations, community organisations and individuals as required.
You must have;
- A qualification in social work, youth work, community work or equivalent.
- Experience working with young people who are homeless and/or in crisis within a Case Management Framework
- Experience working with young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.
- Desirable that the successful applicants have an understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, mental ill health and other disabilities.
- A national police record check is required
- Drivers Licence
- Working with Children Card
