Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive National Family Violence Specialist to provide specialist knowledge and expertise in Family Violence practice to support service delivery across Australia .
Reporting to the Senior Family Violence Specialist, this is a max-term (until January 2026), full-time position which can be based anywhere in Australia. This position is open to candidates from across Australia. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 8.
You will successfully
  • Contribute to a review of services in Family and Domestic Violence and development of a plan for future service delivery.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of national frameworks and operating models for service delivery.
  • Support State Managers to implement frameworks and models of service delivery.
  • Stay informed about policy, changes and trends in the sector and impacts of these for national service delivery models and frameworks.
  • Coordinate communities of practice to share knowledge and expertise of practitioners from across Australia.
You will have
  • Degree qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field and relevant experience.
  • A current and valid relevant state Working with Children Check.
  • Post graduate qualification (would be highly regarded).
  • Experience in social and community services programs including in program management in family violence..
  • Experience in active membership in community or government bodies within the family violence sector.
