The Role
The Hunter Class Frigate Project (HCF - SEA5000) is seeking a self-motivated and high performing individual to join the Commercial and Finance team as the Finance manager. As a Finance Manager you will demonstrate a strong financial acumen and exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and the application of practices and procedures. You will assist the deputy Director with the development and management of HCF’s budget exercises (AE’s and BE’s), oversee finance support activities including simple procurement and payment of invoices.
You will manage the Operating Budget and will resolve issues to contribute best practice and continuous improvement of processes related to finance. The successful candidate will challenge themselves in a fast-paced environment, have excellent written and oral communication skills and will contribute to Australian Continuous Naval Shipbuilding.
In addition to above, you will also be responsible for leading a small team.

The Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) will be one of the most advanced warships in the world with cutting edge technology and capabilities. As Australia’s largest shipbuilding project, HCF provides the foundation for Continuous Naval Shipbuilding in Australia. We are working with experts from the UK, USA, Canada and Europe to provide six frigates optimised for anti-submarine warfare to the Royal Australian Navy.
The frigates are being constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyard, South Australia utilising the latest production technologies. You will be supported in balancing work life with family and other priorities, with a variety of flexible working arrangements available.
Information on Defence employees’ working conditions, including an attractive remuneration package with a generous superannuation contribution (15.4%), can be sourced from the Defence Enterprise Agreement.
