About the role
Mater is currently seeking a highly motivated Advanced Clinical Coder to join our Clinical Coding Services team on a permanent full time basis. This role will code across all Maters and is based at Mater’s South Brisbane Campus.

Salary range: $50.33 - $54.77 (MCA5) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Accurately assign specific morbidity and procedural classification to patient episodes to meet data reporting requirements
- Code inpatient episodes in accordance with Australian Coding Standards
- Meet standards of coding accuracy and awareness of DRG assignment and the impact on potential funding
- Identification of unclear or ambiguous documentation and subsequent initiation of coding queries
- Participate in coding audit, quality and education to expand coding skills
- Apply the principles of confidentiality, privacy and security with the medical environment
About you
You will have a HIMAA Introductory/Intermediate Clinical Coding Course/Certificate 1V in Clinical Classification (or equivalent). You will also have:
- Up to date Clinical Coding knowledge using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS
- Experience using 3M Encoder
- Strong organisation skills in planning, prioritising and managing workloads
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Understanding of private sector funding models (Desirable)
- Experience using Webpas, i PM, and scanned medical records (Desirable)
