Primary Functions of Position
Purpose and Function:
The Welcome Center Associate works cooperatively with all faculty and staff to provide a focal point for welcoming new, returning, and current students and the general public. The Welcome Center Associate is responsible for providing a positive customer service atmosphere and helping students as needed. To fulfill the objectives of this position, the Welcome Center Associate performs the following duties:
Essential Duties:
- Greets and directs guests and potential students to the appropriate areas for assistance, promoting a positive, informative, and welcoming environment.
- Answers general and common questions about the college
- Directs new and current students to the sign-in process for Student Services
- Assist students with logging onto student resources such as email, Rams online, student Self-Service, and Watermark.
- Answers general phone line and direct calls/answers questions for incoming calls not handled by the automated telephone attendant. Screens call when appropriate, routing those calls to the appropriate individual or department, depending on the circumstances involved.
- Locates and contacts students with emergency calls.
- Assist students and guests with directions to navigate the SCC website and locate buildings, offices, and other areas on campus.
- Assist with college mailings to students and prospects.
- Provide security with a daily events calendar to ensure appropriate meeting areas are open for events and that they are aware of the large number of guests and special events on campus.
- Point of contact for lost and found items.
- Provides access to A building meeting rooms.
- Provides employees with a compact version of departmental hours of operation.
- Assist other departments with additional support when needed/available.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people in both oral and written formats.
- Ability to multi-task
- Computer literacy, working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Data Administrative Systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to operate switchboard console and security radio
- Ability to handle information in a confidential manner

The final compensation is dependent upon qualifications, experience, and labor market. Excellent references from previous employers must be furnished upon request.
A completed Southeastern Community College application (located on the SCC website), a resume, letter of interest addressing the position requirements and educational transcripts (unofficial copies of transcripts will be sufficient for the screening process, but official copies must be submitted prior to employment) must be submitted to the college Human Resources Office in order for applicants to be considered for this position.
