Compensation
The base hourly rate for this position is $22.35.
The Strapper/Upstacker Operator performs various duties, including, but not limited to, packaging finished goods, operating and sequencing conveyors, and operating and maintaining packaging equipment.
The job requires periodic, non-repetitive, manual lifting of weights that may exceed 50 pounds. The working position may be awkward or require turning, twisting and/or bending while lifting, requiring moderate physical agility. This job also requires the ability to climb stairs.
The job requires that the employee be responsive to periodic emergency situations that may demand speed and accuracy. The nature of the job requires moderate endurance.
DUTIES
Work safely without any accidents. Observe Plant and Department safety rules and follow safe work practices as defined in the Job Safety Analysis. Immediately report any hazardous or unsafe conditions in the workplace. Observe operation of Upstacker to prevent jam-ups. Clear jam-ups as they occur. Reset counters. Install new strapping rolls as required. Slide strapped(s) in and out of line as required by product size (2x4, 4x4). Clear strapper jams in a timely manner. Maintain strappers, primarily by blowing the dust out of them using compressed air. Periodically clean electronic eyes on machinery. Sequence conveyors as required by the queue to the bundle strapper using manual push button controls in near proximity to the work area. Use fork truck to assist in long board equipment operation and material handling. Inspect vehicle for proper operating condition before operation, using checklist provided. Manually strap loads of board to bunks or strips. Assist Fesco Inspector in removing rejects from the line and spotting boards that does not meet visible attribute specifications (i.e. wet board). Set Upstacker control panel switches for proper stacking sequences. Report equipment malfunctions immediately to Dry End Crew Leader and Supervisor. Perform other duties on the line as required. Prepare and complete operational reports as requested. Maintain equipment and working area clean and orderly per assigned housekeeping schedule. Perform housekeeping duties including sweeping, cleaning and painting work areas as required. Occasionally train inexperienced employees on the job. The above sets forth the major work performed and serves the purpose of recording these items of work for job evaluation rating. It is understood that items of work peculiar to the job but not specifically listed shall be performed.
