This position is part of the Northwest Region Public Health Division within the NMDOH. The position is located in Albuquerque at the South West Valley Public Health Office.

Why does the job exist?
To support one or more programs in the local health office, assist in developing, planning and implementing programs and coordinating Public Health activities with other community agencies to support local clinical services and activities.
How does it get done?
This position provides clinical services for various Public Health Program, i.e., Family Planning, Immunizations, Epidemiology, Tuberculosis, Epidemiology and Communicable Disease, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and outbreaks, etc. Responsibilities include completing Pharmacy and Clinical Laboratory Improvements Act requirements.

Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Has experience: As a nurse working with teens or populations engaged in risky behavior; communicating with hospitals, clinics, and/or laboratories to facilitate the official reporting of reportable conditions to the State; conducting fieldwork to locate persons exposed to communicable diseases; conducting the screening of high-risk asymptomatic persons to identify undetected infections or diseases in a given population; participating in mass immunization or prophylactic medication dispensing activities to large groups of persons for health reasons; and providing birth control education and counseling to patients
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office and in long term care facilities and ICF/IID with extensive computer and some phone usage. Some sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending reaching and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds may be required. Extensive in-state travel with frequent overnight stays averaging one week at a time, is required. Occasional out-of state travel with the occasional overnight stay is required. Occasional work outside of normal work schedule to support community initiatives.
