Job Overview: Join our dedicated team in the Family Birthing Center (FBC), located in the scenic and vibrant town of Salida, Colorado. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a passion for maternal and neonatal care to provide exceptional care to laboring and postpartum patients, as well as their newborns. Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Assessment: Independently assess and evaluate the health status of laboring mothers and neonates, utilizing both objective and subjective data. Identify health care issues and collaborate with patients, families, providers, and other team members to create personalized care plans.
Labor & Delivery: Provide direct care to mothers during labor and delivery, including monitoring maternal and fetal well-being and providing pain management as needed. Assist with deliveries and ensure safe, effective, and timely interventions.
Postpartum & Neonatal Care: Monitor and care for mothers during the postpartum phase and provide education on breastfeeding and infant care. Assist with newborn assessments, and ensure appropriate care is delivered in the nursery.
Patient Education: Educate mothers about pregnancy, infant care, breastfeeding, and postpartum wellness, ensuring that patients are fully informed about their health and care options.
Documentation & Communication: Document all patient events and educational interventions in the electronic medical record. Communicate patient status effectively to physicians and nursing supervisors in both verbal and written formats.
Collaboration: Work closely with nursery nurses to provide care for mother/baby pairs, assist physicians during procedures, and support staff training on new procedures and equipment.
Emergency Support: Assist other nursing units during emergency situations when needed and collaborate with staff to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment in the Family Birthing Center.
Qualifications:
Required:Minimum of 2 years of experience in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum).
Required: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
Required: Active, current RN license in the State of Colorado.
Required:BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA).
Required:ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
Preferred:PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
Physical Demands & Requirements:
Required to work 12/24/24 and 12/31/2024
Frequent standing, bending, and reaching; must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required to read medical records and monitor patient status, including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to use hands for patient care tasks, including handling equipment and performing assessments, and be able to speak and hear clearly.
