Public Information Officer
The Town of Jackson is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our team serving the community in the critical field of public information. The salary range $85,300 -$99,600 DOQ, full benefits. Responsibilities include: crafting and disseminating Town education content, graphics, press releases, fact sheets, public service announcements, videos, slide presentations, and newsletters; managing and updating content on the Town’s website and social media platforms; preparing content and representing the Town at informational booths and community engagement events; and providing assistance with special projects and task forces. Must possess the ability to provide high-level customer service to the public, be supremely organized, able to meet deadlines and multi-task, and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field; 2-5 years of related work experience; working knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Mailchimp, MS Office and Canva; Spanish fluency preferred. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in project management, be self-motivated and disciplined, possess a genuine enthusiasm and interest in public service and local government, and have an affinity for writing, storytelling, and content creation.
